"I hope the America’s
Cup teams will take notice of what we have achieved
recently, because I would love to get involved in
that scene," said in June the 27-year-old Jesper
Radich of Denmark after his victory in the match race
Germany.
But while its top sailors were highly competitive
on the international scene and have won most of the
top international trophies, Denmark has never succeeded
in establishing a campaign for the America's Cup.
Is the time now? One can believe it as, during a press
conference at the opening of the Berlin Match Race,
the young dane replied to the question of a 2007 America´s
Cup Campaign that he is now hoping for a Danish–Nordic
campaign headed by the skipper Jesper Bank.
Two-time Olympic gold medalist, Bank was helmsman
in the Victory Challenge team (with the Swede Magnus
Holmberg) during the last America's Cup regatta.
