The Dream for a well-financed Défi with a serious partner seems to be an elusive impossible dream for its fans.

Its back to reality today as Luc Gelluseau, one of three directors of the French challenge, said the partnership is only with Renault Spain and "consisted in loaning for 3 Years the cars adapted to our need".

With the deadline of 17th december 2004 fast approaching, time is running out for the French Team which have not yet finalized its budget.

Some questions are bouncing around in America's Cup circles about the automaker's Renault added to the hull of FRA 69 since the beginning of the Louis Vuitton Act 2.

As nobody is raising the question in Valencia, the rumor mills are working overtime and a "very close source to the French Team" today said a €12 million partnership has been formed between Le Défi and the French automobile-making giant.

As the future of the French syndicate Le Défi seemed a bit grim, the prospective Challenge could finally have succeeded in funding its 2007 campaign.

The Spanish agency Mmediapress.com published today four pictures showing the French shore team posting Renault's logo on hull of the boat.

Details are not available yet, but considering the size of the logo, Renault should be more than a supplier.

After an intense period assembling FRA 69, Le Défi Challenge have finally had chance to retest its boat on the valencian waters.

In a newly repainted red livery, the former bright-yellow boat was back on the water for the first time since last year's campaign, sharing the Valencia's waters with Luna Rossa Challenge.

For the last three weeks the shore crew have been preparing the boat for sailing and the French syndicate expected to be here by mid-July.

The French champion Philippe Presti, skipper of LeDéfi said crew members will spend about ten hours a day on the waters off Valencia's coast. He expects they will head out about 7:30 a.m. every morning and return by early evening.
