Philippe Presti of the French Challenge for the America's
Cup has won the Trophée Guillaume Cousin - Cassis Cup
2002, an ISAF Grade 1 (or 2) Event organised by the Cercle
Nautique de Cassis.
Presti, sailing with Jean-Marie Dauris, Philippe Mourniac
and Thierry Briend, outdueled defeated Danish Jes Gram Hansen
l 2 - 1 in the final.
In the petit final Luc Pillot sailing with Gilles Favennec,
Denis Vanier and Frédéric Guillemin defeated François Brénac
to finish third.

| The second day of the match racing regatta taking place
in Cassis, France. The first three flights of the second Robin
round saw " wild combat " on water between the six best crews
still in string: François BRENAC did not yield anything and
won his three matches, Mathieu RICHARD won two out of three.
Racing continues until 3 March. |

The first day of the match racing regatta taking place
in Cassis, France. The greatest number of matches was gained
by Danish Jes GRAM HANSEN, 5th world rank, followed by French
Philippe PRESTI, 16th world, then of French Luc PILLOT (10th)
with the young Nantais Mathieu RICHARD (27th); just behind
the two other French crews, François BRENAC (7ème) and Sebastien
COL (96ème) point.

On February 27 through March 3, ten match-racers
will take to the waters off the coast of Cassis, near Marseille
south of France, alongside the Mediterranean sea. The event
is an ISAF Grade 1 or 2 event (this grading is subject to
review by the ISAF Match Race Advisory Board. The event may
be re-graded when then is clear reason to do so).
The starter´s list in France includes Luc Pillot and Philippe
Presti, representing Le Défi Areva French America´s
Cup. Other prominent matchracers such as Jes Gram-Hansen from
Denmark or the three French skippers Mathieu Richard, François
Brennac and Sébastien Col will make this event very
difficult to win for any of the competitors.
After a practice day, the action sailed in Beneteau 25 starts
tomorrow (28st), the series featuring two Round robin, semi-finals
followed by final on sunday. |
