James Spithill, former helmsman for the OneWorld Challenge, defeated american Ed Baird of Team Musto in the final of the 15th Pedrini Cento Cup Grade 1 Match Race event at Lake Garda, Italy.

The young australian skipper swept past Baird three races to one in the first-to-three- final.

Poland’s Karol Jablonski, Member of Polish Challenge for the 2007 America’s Cup, defeated Swede Bjorn Hansen 2-0 in the petit final to claim third place.

On the third day of the Pedrini Cento Cup the round robin series was now completed. After an action packed day in Italy, three America's Cuppers and a match-racer have made the cut to the semi-finals.

First to secure a place in the semi-finals was american Ed Baird, former member of the Young America challenge’s afterguard who now sails with his Team Musto.

He will be joined by Australia’s James Spithill, former helmsman for the OneWorld Challenge, Poland’s Karol Jablonski, Member of Polish Challenge for the 2007 America’s Cup, and Swede match-racer Bjorn Hansen.

The last skippers eliminated from the competition include Paolo Cian, helmsman of Mascalzone Latino America's Cup Challenge and French match racer Mathieu Richard.

Like in Split and Constance, Skippers was divided into two groups ("A" & "B"). In Each group all skippers will sail a Round Robin where each skipper sails each other skipper once. The six highest scoring skippers shall qualify for the next stage.

On the second day of Pedrini, the round robin series for group A was completed. Karol Jablonski , highest ranked claims a 4 straights wins loosing to the Swedish team of Mikael Lindqvist. Beaten by the Polish, Paolo Cian will end 2nd also with 4 wins.

The two top ranked teams in each group (Karol Jablonski , Paolo Cian, Ed Baird and Bjorn Hansen) qualify directly for the next stage. Thanks to a repechage, Mathieu Richard and James Spithill reached the quarterfinals.

In a truly dominating performance on a long day on the waters of the Garda Lake, Italy, Former Young America skipper Ed Baird and his Team Musto rolled off five straight wins to take control of his group in the Pedrini Cento Cup.

In morning conditions, Ed Baird posted wins over Dane Jes Gram-Hansen (2nd on ISAF rankings), russian Maxim Taranov, Sweden’s Bjorn Hansen, australian Michael Dunstan and France’s Mathieu Richard.

Holding onto second place, with four wins and one loss is Sweden's Bjorn Hansen. He defeated Gram-Hansen, Richard, Taranov and Dunstan.

Three skippers share third place, with a two win, three loss scoreline, Jes Gram-Hansen, Mathieu Richard and Maxim Taranov.

The BluRimini Match Race competitors will now take to the waters off the Garda Lake, Italy, for the 15th Pedrini Cento Cup.

Highlighting the list of competitors are Paolo Cian and James Spithill, two former America’s Cuppers, and many other match-race specialists such as Polish Karol Jablonski and denmark's Jes Gram-Hansen, currently ranked Nos. 1 and 2 on the ISAF World Match Race Rankings.

After a practice day, the action starts on Wednesday, the series featuring a round robin, in which all the skippers sail against each of the others. The first 6 skippers will enter the quarterfinals.
