IACCSF has announced its Advisory Board to help
guide the growing fleet of America's Cup Yachts
in San Francisco Bay.
The international committee includes:
- John Sweeney (USA 11),
- David Thomson (NZL 20),
- Peter Stoneberg (ITA 1),
- Tina Kleinjan (NZL 14).
Paul Cayard will be responsible for the US and Tommaso
Chieffi will handle Europe.
The next IACCSF regatta is May 25-26 the Sausalito
Cup. Four IACC yachts will be in attendance.
The 2003 schedule will be announced at Sail Expo
April 17th after the match race between ITA 1 and
NZL 14.

Cayard

Paul Cayard will participate at Pacific Sail
Expo 2002 as the show's official "Discover Sailing"
Ambassador. Cayard will also skipper the IACC yacht,
Il Moro di Venezia, a familiar helm, as part of an
exhibition event during Pacific Sail Expo. Additionally,
Cayard will make a public and press appearance on
Thursday April 18, at the show.
"I am honored to be involved with Pacific Sail Expo
and their annual show that brings the exciting sport
of sailing to the public", stated Cayard.
"I was born and raised in San Francisco and through
35 years of sailing on our great bay, I learned skills
that have given me a satisfying the career and a wealth
of experiences. I am looking forward to sharing some
of that with the public."
Pacific Sail Expo 2002 is the largest sail-only show
held on the US West Coast and Pacific Rim and takes
place in Oakland, California on April 17-21, 2002.
On the IACC-SF fleet, news from USA 11 who gets painted
next week and then on a truck from Florida to San
Francisco April 10th. She will be rechristened at
the Sausalito Cup May 25 & 26th. |

Two more events have been announced for the growing
fleet of IACC yachts on San Francisco Bay.
May 25 & 26 will be the Sausalito Cup which will feature
four IACC yachts as well as a christening for John
Sweeney's restored Stars and Stripes 92'.
July 27 & 28 will be the America's Cup Media Trophy
which will feature six IACC yachts.
The fleet will also be showcased at this years Sail
Pacific Expo April 17-21 in Oakland. |

David Thomson, a transplanted New Zealander who
now lives in San Francisco, has joined the IACC-SF
fleet with the acquisition of NZL 20.
David has been instrumental in organizing the Sayonara
Maxi Boat campaign as well as his own Peregrine Farr
40 racing team.
NZL 20 will be managed by Brent Ruhne and Nick Crabtree.
She will rejoin the growing San Francisco fleet in
a few months after her refit at KKMI.
She will compete in the IACC World's in October 2003.

San Francisco Bay provided the backdrop for
three vintage IACC yachts that met at the Corinthian
Yacht Club to kick off the beginning of this new
project organized by John Sweeney and Tina Kleinjan
of America's Cup Media.
The trio sailed two long bay courses in flat water
and winds from 8 to 18 knots as 60 of the Bay's
top sailors had their first chance at sailing these
massive yachts.
Final results:
1. Il Moro Di Venezia I - Peter Stoneberg ;
2. New Zealand 20 - David and Karie Thomson ;
3. New Zealand 14 - Paul and Chrissy Kaplan.

The IAC Challenge Nassau.
Ltd. will ship both its 1992 IACC yachts to San Francisco
for the World Championship to be held in October 2003.
Based in Nassau the Bahamas, The IAC Challenge owns
and operates - NZL 10 and NZL 12 - both of which sailed
in the "Road to the Americas Cup Regattas in 2000".
NZL 10 and 12, Ex-Team New Zealand yachts will join
their sister ships from 92' for the first time in
ten years. This makes six 1992 IACC yachts signed
up for the San Francisco regatta. |

John Sweeney of Oracle
Racing has purchased Stars and Stripes (USA 11) from
the now defunct Vi America's Cup Challenge. USA 11
will be shipped via Dockwise to San Francisco from
its current home in the Virgin Islands. USA 11 has
had a rough life and will be completely restored to
its original state and join the growing fleet of IACC
yachts in San Francisco Bay. She will make her racing
debut mid summer in San Francisco.
USA 11 was Dennis Conners - Dave Pedrick designed
IACC yacht in 1992. She sported a tandem keel at one
point and later lost a rig during a race against America
3. She will be fitted with a 2000 generation rig and
sails and should be very competitive in the 92' class.
This brings Sweeneys IACC yacht total to four.
All four boats are available for charter for the 2003
IACC World's in San Francisco. |

John Sweeney, sailor for Oracle Racing and owner of
three IACC yachts (ITA-01,
NZL-14 & NZL-20), officially launched
an organisation wich goals to organize an IACC
Worlds Event in San Francisco in October 2003 for
all IACC yachts and
to create an International Center for all IACC.
The International America's Cup Class (IACC) - San
Francisco explained that " San Francisco is an
ideal fleet racing venue, offering a large waterfront
audience and great sailing conditions. America's Cup
syndicates and independent sponsors will be able to
increase their brands' visibility prior to the America's
Cup in a large American waterfront market and use
the opportunity to draw support for future campaigns.
Private yacht owners benefit from organized, sponsored
races and events as well as a vast support network."
IACC-SF (who seems to have a partnership with IAC
Challenge, owner of NZL-10 & NZL-12) and begins
with a limited schedule of events for the 2002 season
with goals of growing the fleet and encouraging sponsors
to participate :
