Peter Gilmour leads Gavin Brady, Ed Baird and Terry
Hutchinson to the next round albeit of the 40th
Congressional Cup, event No. 4 on the 2003-’04 Swedish
Match Tour.
One flight remains to be completed in the round
robin, but Gilmour leads the event with a 15-2 record.
Oracle BMW Racing’s helmsman Brady is second at
12-5 (but with 11.5 points due to an umpire-imposed
penalty), while Baird and Hutchinson are tied for
third with 11-6 records.
The final round robin flight is scheduled for tomorrow
morning at 11:00 am. After that the four semifinalists
will sail best-of-three matches. The finals are
also best-of-three.
Gilmour, the overall leader of the Swedish Match
Tour, won the right to select his opponent for the
semifinals by winning the round robin.
Although the semifinalists are decided tomorrow’s
final flight is important to determine tiebreakers
for the distribution of the $25,000 prize purse.
Kelvin Harrap and Jes Gram-Hansen are tied for fifth
at 9-8, while Cameron Appleton, Mattias Rahm and
Scott Dickson are still in a log jam at 6-11. Allan
Coutts completes the field at 0-17.
