Public Administrations Minister Jordi Sevilla accepted
Barbera’s request and a meeting took place between
the Minister and the Valencian representatives (Rita
Barbera, the Mayoress of Valencia and Francisco
Camps, the president of the Valencia regional government)
in an effort to stop the dissension.
Although the details of the meeting were not revealed,
party sources said that the three leaders explored
the possibility of an agreement to overcome their
differences over the control of the Americ's Cup
and the lack of investment in the America's Cup
by the Zapatero's Government.
The first debated issue was the Madrid's proposal
to create a autonomous entity, controlled by the
Central Government, which will be in charge of supervise
recruitments and tenders.
The main disputed issue is the Central Government
plan to fulfill its financial commitments to the
City (€500 million) through a long-term concession
for the use and operation of the grounds owned by
the state in Valencia.
