Alinghi's Jochen Schuemann claims this year’s victory in the Grade 2 Berlin Match Race event.

It was danish sailing professional Michael Hestbaek losing all his three final matches against three-time olympic champion and current America`s Cup winner Schuemann.

But also second placed Michael Hestbæk representing ‘United Internet Team Germany’ was more than delighted with the outcome, since he has never before competed in an international top match race event.

"This is unbelievable", he said. "We never expected coming that far! It really was an honor to sail against Jochen Schuemann in the final."

The petit final was decided in a ‘best of three-format’ when Bjoern Hansen of Sweden won both his matches against Markus Wieser sailing for the hosting Verein Seglerhaus am Wannsee.
