ACC Technical Director Ken McAlpine
notified the teams that sail number 100 has been
issued. The last one ?
By agreement with the teams, he only announces that
a number has been allocated (after the first skin
is layed up in or on the tool), not the name of
the team.
After Francesco de Angelis announced that sail number
94 was their second new boat for AC 32, presumably
98 and 100 have been allocated to Alinghi and BMW
Oracle Racing (not necessarily this order).
Inasmuch as the Challengers have to be ready for
the start of the LVC in the middle of April next
year, and whereas the Defender has until the start
of the AC Match on 23 June, observers of the AC
scene expect 100 is to Alinghi.

To summarize from press reports
and rumours concerning the presumed allocation
of numbers :
|
| - |
Shosholoza (one boat , RSA
83) ;
|
| - |
Team NZ (two boats, NZL 84
& 92) ;
|
| - |
+39 Challenge (one boat ,
ITA 85) ;
|
| - |
Luna Rossa (two boats, ITA
86 & 94) ;
|
| - |
BMW Oracle Racing (two boats,
USA 87 & 98 ?) ;
|
| - |
Desafío Español (two boats,
ESP 88 & 97) ;
|
| - |
Team Germany (one boat ,
GER 89) ;
|
| - |
Alinghi (two boats, SUI
91 & 100 ?)
|
| - |
Mascalzone Latino (two boats,
ITA 90 & 99) ;
|
| - |
Areva Challenge (un bateau,
le FRA 93) ;
|
| - |
China Team (one boat , CHN
95) ;
|
| - |
Victory Challenge (one boat
, SWE 96).
|
Nevertheless, if Alinghi and BMW
Oracle are both thought to have boats under some
stage of construction, some say Sweden's Victory
Challenge could also be building a second boat (after
SWE 96) and the last yacht for AC 32 could be 101.
