British sailor Adrian Stead has
joined Mascalzone Latino Capitalia Team as a member
of the afterguard.
"Well I am here as an afterguard member but
also to bring a slightly different view on things;
to ask questions and see if we can improve in any
areas", he said about his role in the campaign.
He brings more Americas Cup experience to the team
as he was the Tactician with GBR Challenge in Auckland.
"We have to focus on the important things –
mast, sails, team work, race practice as well as
making our boats as fast as possible in the time
we have left."
The team is now working in Valencia with ITA 90
and ITA 77. A second new boat is expected to be
launched in early 2007.
"The team members are very talented and we
need to make sure we maximise this and improve on
the areas we are weak", Adrian Stead said.
"As always, time is the enemy in the Americas
Cup, so we have to make sure we prioritise what
is important between now and the LV Cup."
Afterguard for the two sailing teams working right
now are: Vasco Vascotto (skipper), Flavio Favini,
Jes Gram-Hansen, Cameron Dunn, Rasmus Kostner, Michele
Paoletti, Nacho Postigo and Adrian Stead.
The afterguard for the LVC will be announced just
before racing starts in April.
