The Italian Mascalzone Latino-Capitalia
Team has announced its second new boat is ITA 99.
As required by the Protocol of the 32nd America’s
Cup each team is allowed to build a maximum of 2
new boats, and those same hulls, to be able to race
in 2007, must be built in the country of the challenge.
The boat was built in Italy at a yard in Andora
and has now been transferred to England for its
final fitting out, before it will come to Valencia
to be tested and raced.
"The new Mascalzone Latino has been assigned
sail number ITA 99," confirmed team President
Vincenzo Onorato, "This new boat represents
for us the combination of the hard design effort
with the technical expertise that comes from day
to day operations. Mascalzone Latino ITA 99 signifies
our team’s commitment and overwhelming desire to
succeed in this America’s Cup."
Both ITA 99 and ITA 90 are the work of the Mascalzone
Latino-Capitalia Team design group led by Harry
Dunning.
ITA 90 was never raced in the 2006 Louis Vuitton
Acts, but the team has been training with it on
the waters off Valencia this summer.
