More than 700 ideas for GER 89 (23/11/06)
 (source : Team Germany)

With an overwhelming result the participants of the Team Germany design competition have completed their mission.

During a two-month competition period, more than 700 drafts for the German America’s Cup yacht have been handed in. Now it is the jury’s job to pick the winning design which will decorate the German boat in Valencia in spring 2007.

Some ideas are well promising and now the pressure is on: Which look will Germany I show at the starting line next year in Valencia?

The jury is now confronted with the problem to decide which design is the best. Skipper Jesper Bank, Syndicate Head Michael Scheeren, Stephane Cordier (board member of Europe´s biggest online-distributor, Adlink Internet Media AG), Eva Heil (CEO of GMX) as well as a team of design-experts from Berlin-based international agency Select will now have to look through all the designs, evaluate and discuss until the final decision is made.

The winner and his design are expected to be announced in the beginning of next year. Besides the honour of seeing the first German yacht participating in the 32nd America´s Cup in his or her own design, the winner of the first prize is going to be 18th man on board the German cup-boat during the races 2007, including a trip to Valencia for two.
