 Paul Cayard in talks with Desafío (01/07/07)
(source : BYM
)

American Paul Cayard could be set to become skipper and helmsman of the Spanish team, if Alinghi wins the Cup.

Cayard is, however, undecided at present as to whether he wants to compete in the America’s Cup or the Volvo Ocean Race.

If Alinghi were to lose, Desafio Espanol’s future is uncertain, since the team’s main sponsors are Spanish companies, with no interest in the New Zealand market.

Desafio is, therefore, waiting to see the outcome of the America’s Cup matches, but has asked key members of the team to retain rented accommodation, in Valencia, until the result is known.
