Alinghi skipper Brad Butterworth wants to remain with the Swiss syndicate for their next defence of the America's Cup.

Despite rumours linking them with a shift to a Russell Coutts skippered Oracle for the next Cup, he has today expressed that their desire is to re-sign with Alinghi.

"I'm really happy with the position we're in," he said. "Obviously, we've won and I would like to stay with this team. We've got a good thing going, so, of course."

Butterworth said they are likely to stay with the other members of the "magic quintet" (Dean Phipps, Murray Jones, Warwick Fleury and Simon Daubney), leaving Coutts to do his thing with Larry Ellison.

Butterworth added he understands Coutts has plans to get back into the America's Cup, and he supported the decision one hundred percent.

He said he would love to race with Coutts again so maybe he will consider coming back to Alinghi.
