After the successful premiere of the German Sailing Grand Prix no America’s Cupper will sail in Kiel in this year.

The city of Kiel announced this two months before the estimated start of the event.

"A year after the internationally noticed premiere in Kiel the teams United Internet Team Germany and Shosholoza as well as the capital of Schleswig-Holstein had to stop their plannings on Tuesday, June 5, for the second edition in August", said a press release by the city of Kiel.

A repeat of this event in this year is not possible because no third participant besides the German team and Team Shosholoza could be found.

"The city does regret this development very much, said Kiel’s mayoress Angelika Volquartz. "Kiel Sailing City, the teams and the main sponsor would have enjoyed to present this event to the sailing fans again"
