As her male colleagues, Claire
Leroy of France could race the 33rd America's Cup
with a foreign team.
There is a kind of paradox that France's match racer
are leading the international circuit at a time
when the French America's Cup syndicates are finding
it difficult to survive.
A situation that could lead Mathieu Richard and
Claire Leroy, # 1 skipper respectivly in open and
women’s ISAF World Match Race Rankings, to discover
the Cup far from a French project.
As the rumors are flying that Mathieu is in contact
with Cayard's Desafío Español, Claire doesn't hide
that she is interested in Fuxia Challenge, a syndicate
which project to assemble an entirely female team
from among the world’s top ranking sailors.
"We sets sights on the America's Cup", she said
recently after receiving the female ISAF Rolex World
Sailor of the Year titles. "The female crew project
is reaching its finalization, so why not ?".
The "We" she used in her sentence indicate that
Fuxia could recruit all or at least a good part
of her actual crew*.
