French syndicate K-Challenge takes up the challenge "to confirm France’s statute of great sailing nation", while being represented among the best world teams which are challenging to conquer the oldest sporting trophy in the world: the America's Cup..

With a project that started from scratch, the K-Challenge team said they "managed to create, for the first time in France, a different and tested method aiming at long term plans. It also allowed revealing new talents".

Despite all the trouble they have been gone during the 32nd America's Cup, Stéphane Kandler and his team never have been discouraged and their faith remains intact.

“Gathering a sufficient budget to be competitive and making it as soon as possible is my number one objective", Kandler said. "Because it will for once make it possible for a French project to work, peacefully and effectively in the America's Cup. And this game is being played now".

"The next edition will take place in less than two years, the budget is thus reasonable and our future partners have the guarantee of an immediate and consequent return on investment", he added. "We’ve never seen that in the America's Cup, which will be held moreover for the second and consecutive time in Europe".

"There will also be new spectacular 90 feet boats, which constitute a real opportunity for the French who are particularly strong in the design work. It is necessary to launch architectural researches now, in order to be able to develop an innovative and fast boat. The new design rules have been officially published on October 31, 2007, it is thus now necessary to start it all in order to succeed in the competition".

Thanks to all the team’s assets, its experience in the last America's Cup, plus an operational base in Valencia, K-Challenge have several trump cards in hand and could strengthen its position "with the best French and foreign specialists, ready to join the team".


Les difficultés rencontrées lors de la dernière édition n'ont en tout cas pas entamées la foi de Stéphane Kandler, le patron du syndicat français.

"Réunir un budget suffisant pour être compétitif et le plus rapidement possible est mon objectif numéro un", explique t-il. "Car il permettra d'appuyer un projet français pouvant travailler, pour une fois, sereinement et efficacement dans l'America's Cup. Et c'est maintenant que cela se joue".

"La prochaine édition aura lieu dans moins de deux ans, le budget est donc raisonnable et nos futurs partenaires ont la garantie d'un retour sur investissement immédiat et conséquent : du jamais vu dans l'America's Cup, qui se déroule de plus pour la seconde fois consécutive en Europe, aux portes de la France".

"Il y aura également de nouveaux bateaux de 30 mètres très spectaculaires, ce qui constitue une véritable aubaine pour nous Français qui sommes particulièrement forts dans le design. Il faut lancer des recherches architecturales dès à présent, afin de pouvoir développer au plus vite un nouveau bateau le plus performant possible. La nouvelle jauge a été officiellement publiée le 31 octobre 2007, c'est donc maintenant qu'il faut tout déclencher pour briller dans la compétition !".

De fait, forte de ses actifs et son expérience de la 32e America's Cup et disposant d'une base opérationnelle à Valence, le syndicat français ne manque pas d'atouts, des atouts qui pourraient s'accroître de "la possibilité de travailler avec les meilleurs spécialistes français, ainsi que des personnalités étrangères de très haut niveau prêtes à rejoindre l'équipe".

K-Challenge is currently in mobilizing mode, in order to communicate again its courage and ambition to take up the challenge of the 33rd America's Cup now.
