About the number of syndicates (14/10/07)
(source : Valencia Life)

It has been revealed that the agreement signed with ACM and the Valencian Government clearly states the number of syndicates that are expected top participate in the next set of races as nine.

If this number of competitors is not reached, Americas Cup Management will be forced to repay the Valencians up to 7% of the total contract for each syndicate under nine.

At least six new syndicates are preparing their entry into the Americas Cup Races, but are hesitating to do so due to the court case currently underway in New York between BMW Oracle Racing and Alinghi.

They are Ayre (a second Spanish Syndicate), K-Challenge, Victory Challenge, and China Team. Americas Cup Management has also received enquiries about participating in the next set of Races from such countries as Brazil and Malaysia.
