After Desafío and Team Origin,
Team Germany modify their plans considering the
"crisis" that America's Cup is in.
According to a report to be publish in Monday's
edition of German magazine Focus, the German challenge
will "significantly reduce" its operation costs
and will lay off almost all of its employees, including
its sport director Joechen Schuemann, as part of
a restructuring effort to survive for 2011.
"A certain number of contracts, including Jochen
Schuemann's, expires on March 31 and we will not
be extended," said Team Germany's owner Michael
Scheeren. "We cannot continue to finance a large
team without knowing more about where the America's
Cup will take place in 2011".
