Yesterday saw the start of the third edition of the Jeep Challenge, an International sailing event organized by Jeep, part of the Daimler Chrysler Group, in collaboration with the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.

A fresh breeze allowed the four teams to get out on the water the day before for a practice session.

The four competing America’s Cup teams are:
- United Internet Team Germany (Michael Hestbaek),
- Victory Challenge (Mattias Rahm),
- Desafio Espanol 2007 (Santiago Lopez Vazquez),
- Mascalzone Latino–Capitalia Team (Vasco Vascotto).

Jeep Challenge is an exclusive invitational match race for teams composed of a helmsman plus four crew members.

The match race formula sees the four teams competing in a round robin with the semi-finals and finals to be held on Saturday 15th July.

The following day will be reserved for a fleet regatta with professionals and owners aboard, which will close the 2006 edition of the Jeep Challenge.
